Located in the center of Yaoba, Hejiang County, in Sichuan Province, the Ancient Town was built during The Northern Song Dynasty (920-1127AD) and flourished during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644AD). It spans a few well preserved blocks, including old residences of prominent people, the traditional market street and a Ciyun temple, and it is a place where visitors can get a glimpse of pre-modernization China. A renowned cultural landmark at the middle of the Sichuan-Guizhou Corridor of the ancient Tea-Salt Road of China, the Ancient Town of Yaoba appears often as a backdrop in film and television productions and is also a revered Buddhist pilgrimage destination.
